3 Styrenes: Non-oriented polystyrene sheets are generally not suitable for thermoforming because the trimming after molding is difficult. Biaxially oriented polystyrene sheets are likely to be thermoformed, but the frames used must be strong enough to prevent heat shrinkage of the sheet. 4 Acrylates: There is no particular difficulty in molding or extruding sheets with polymethyl methacrylate, and there is no significant difference between the two in molding technology. The difference is that the molding temperature of the cast sheet is higher, because of its relatively high molecular weight.
